What is the best type of fire extinguisher for the car? Where should it be mounted?
If a fire should occur in your car you’ll want to act as quickly as possible. A car fire extinguisher should be small enough to store in the center console or glove box or mounted in front of the driver seat. Regardless of the location you want to be able to reach it without having to unbuckle your seat belt. Luckily, there are fire extinguishers built just for cars.
Most car owners are going to want to choose some type of clean agent, foam, or halogenated extinguisher. These types of extinguishers are easy to use and require little to no clean up after they have been exhausted.
What you don’t want is a dry chemical extinguisher.
Dry chemical extinguishers are corrosive and almost impossible to clean up after use. They will probably destroy the electrical components of a vehicle.
